Timeless waterfront wedding in the Chesapeake Bay

This late-summer waterfront wedding was set at the stunning coastal venue Herrington on the Bay, one of the most iconic Maryland wedding venues along the Chesapeake. The scenery was peaceful. Imagine sailboats drifting across soft waves, hydrangeas swaying in the breeze, and the distant call of seagulls. As serene as it all was, the air was just buzzing with excitement as E & J said “I do.”

Herrington on the Bay offers several ceremony and reception spaces, including the Herrington Bay Garden and the Herrington Yacht Club. E & J chose The Lawn & Chesapeake Ballroom, arguably the most scenic combination for a Chesapeake Bay wedding. Conveniently located just 45 minutes from Annapolis and under an hour from Washington, DC, it’s a dream choice for couples wanting a waterfront wedding venue in Maryland while staying close to the city.

Being from Miami, I’m no stranger to beachfront and waterfront celebrations, but the serenity of the Chesapeake Bay has an entirely different rhythm. There’s an effortless elegance here, an “old-money” aesthetic mixed with coastal charm, which is something that you rarely find in my hometown’s more modern landscape. E & J’s celebration is exactly why I love being a DMV wedding photographer (and destination photographer in general). New venues and new people constantly spark new inspiration.

Accompanied by their sweet dog and their impressive wedding party of fourteen bridesmaids and groomsmen, E & J had the Maryland coastal wedding of their dreams. They enjoyed an unforgettable dinner (yes, the steak and crab cakes were a true 10/10) and danced the night away under the summer sky. As for me, I’m completely in love with Maryland’s coast, and I cannot wait to return to Herrington on the Bay or wherever else my incredible clients take me next.
